Cedar Hill Kennel
Our Thoughts on German Shorthair Pointers
Our kennel is a small operation that produces only a few selected litters each year. Our goal is not mass production, but to propagate consistent, quality bird. dogs. We carefully plan and research each mating, for the integrity of the German Shorthaired Pointer breed and to maintain our reputation of producing great bird dogs.
Cedar Hill Kennel specialized in the smaller, animated, foot hunting, field dogs that are pleasing to watch. We strive for a dog with super natural hunting ability, exceptional nose and elite style and class. 12 O'clock tails and high heads are a must. Trainability, temperment, conformation and a natural retrieve are also at the top of the list.
We seek the smaller to average sized German Shorthaired pointer with a lot of endurance and drive. I want a hard charging dog that hunts with you and for you. We believe in testing and trailing of dogs, but this is only one step in the selection process. The most important step for all stud dogs and breeding females is to meet MY standards. I am very critical and all dogs must meet or exceed my standards in all aspects to be used for breeding purposed for the next generation of GSP's here.
Cedar Hill Foundation
Double K's Mistress is not only a great dog, but a consistent producer of exceptional dogs. Most of our females are daughters or granddaughters of Misty.
Misty has made quite a name for herself. She is a 4X NSTRA Champion and winner of the 2002 Midwest Quail Hunters Association Dog of the Year Trial. One of her first NSTRA trials, a double/double, she placed all 4 runs, two 1sts one 2nd and one 3rd. Misty had accumulated 84 total NSTRA points, seventeen 1st, nine 2nd, and 15 3rds. She was in the top 5 Regional high point standings in NSTRA for 4 years in a row, until puppies interfered with her spring seasons.
Misty is one of the best wild bird dogs I have hunted behind both pheasant and quail. She is also a house dog and family companion. More important that all the ribbons and trophies she had won, is her ability to produce some great bird dogs. Misty has had 59 puppies in 6 litters by 5 different sires. Her offspring are scattered fro Pennsylvania to Colorado and North Dakota to Texas to Georgia, there is even one in South Africa. Each litter has resulted n several tremendous dogs. Many are tough competitors in AKC, NSTRA, and MQHA trials. The rest are great hunting dogs. Despite the different sires, all of Misty's offspring have severs things in common. Above average nosed, exceptional style, tremendous bird drive, natural retrievers and a strong will to please their owners.
As Misty passes on this quality and consistency it is easy to see why she is the cornerstone of our program.
